Junction Mountain Fire Lookout, Alberta, Canada

Gerrod and I attempted to make it to the top of the Junction Mountain Fire Lookout in September 2001. When we woke-up the morning of the trip it was snowing. We decided to make the trip anyway. By the time we got to Junction Mountain there was approximately 3-4 inches of snow on the ground! We went up for approximately 3 hours and then turned around. we decided we would have to wait for another day... The first few pictures show the attempt in September 2001...

Gerrod and I made the trip to the mountain once again in August 2002. This time we made it to the top and back... almost killing ourselves, but it was well worth the trip.

If you plan to complete this ride you must prepare. It is a tough ride up, an exciting ride down (reaching speeds of up to 65 km/hr) and it is full of some awesome sights! The following pictures are from our August 2002 trip...

The trees thinned out and we thought we were at the top just after 2 hours. Then we saw the Fire Lookout Tower at the top of another peak!

Finally after 3 hours and forty-five minutes we made it to the top! This is Gerrod trying to contain his excitement
