Officer Equipment
The officer’s equipment is just as important as having a good bicycle. If the equipment and uniforms are of poor quality the officer will not look professional and will not be treated as a professional. If the uniform does not fit correctly, is not waterproof or appropriate for the season- the officer will not patrol, defeating the purpose of the unit. The recommended equipment will vary depending upon the climate and riding conditions.
The bike patrol uniform has come a long way: From its humble beginnings, which often consisted of a nylon track suit, to the high quality, specially built uniforms of today.
When purchasing a uniform take in to account the type of weather you expect the Officers to ride in. This is a very important step – If the Officers do not have the proper uniforms they will not ride; therefore, defeating the purpose of the task.
